description | The Naviglio series designed by Yabu Pushelberg consists of a curved linear sofa and a low stool, expressing the visual balance between structure and form.Naviglio means “canal, navigation” in Italian, and from the beginning of its name, it conveys its “comprehensive” essence. The river represents integration and convergence, and it is also a place for trade and leisure, conveying the intersection of human beings and nature. This is the first collaboration between designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg and B&B Italy. In the vision of Canadian designers, the base part of the seat plays the role of a riverbed, which can hold the curved backrest and armrests like a river.Yabu Pushelberg's design creates a continuous whole between the product appearance and B&B Italy's mold technology. As part of the puzzle, B&B Italy designed each shape ergonomically to ensure that each part can exist independently. The backrest part and the shape of the seat show a delicate balance between polygonal and curved shapes, so that the geometric shapes can also become smooth and comfortable. The seemingly circular backrest is actually an irregular polygon, whether it is a straight line or a curve, it shows a unique pursuit of detail. In order to realize the original design intention of “sofa without cushion”, the components of this series use polyurethane materials of different densities as the interior, which ensures a certain degree of support while being comfortable, allowing the body to show a natural relaxed posture. Naviglio's sofa components are composed of leather and fabrics, including brand new bouclé fabrics, which are matched with a variety of decorative colors from the same primary color, bringing the charm and movement of impressionist colors. The subtle pattern effect between light and shadow has added five color combinations to the new fabrics of the series, which are matched between white, gray, black and camel. The rear of the backrest presents a coherent or contrasting color trim, creating a linear element that emphasizes the continuity of shape. The Naviglio coffee table, specially designed by Yabu Pushelberg studio, can be placed close to the seat. The transparent glass top plate is paired with a slender bronze nickel shaft, supported by a polished marble base, and its shape is inspired by the stones in the river. |
