The romantic comedies of the 1950’s and, going even further back, the sumptuous bedrooms of the 18th century. These are the inspiration for the Suzie Wong bed. Roberto Lazzeroni gives it a light, feminine, almost twee feel. Suzie Wong takes the classic boat bed and gives it a modern, more streamlined twist. The feet, tapered like stiletto heels and covered in leather with a brass tip, lift it from the floor and highlight its lightness. Even more sophisticated is the version with headboard enveloped in quilted leather which, embroidered with fine geometric stitching, is a subtle reference to typical details of tailored and leather goods.
